You deserve a practice where the goal is to help you flourish.
You are a great GP. Your patients know it, your colleagues know it, but the practice you work in runs mostly on your hard grind.
If the days have started to feel like processing rather than medicine, the problem is usually the practice, not the doctor.
Gum Medical is owned and run by two GPs who live in the area and work in the building. We have a vested interest in making sure that the practice supports the GP, not the other way round. We work with you as our colleagues, not our worker bees.
Dr Chris Withnall and Dr Karen Williams started here as registrars and liked the place so much they bought the company. Both still consult every week. There is no corporate owner and no head office. Leadership that listens and acts: the people who hear a problem are the people who can change it.

Mixed billing means the consultation is shaped by what the patient brings, not by the item number. Our patients rate satisfaction with the consultation at 94 per cent in the 2025 independent CFEP survey.
The day ends when the last patient leaves.
A growing patient base who chose their doctor, and the same patients over years, so you see what happened next.
Nurses and reception with close to zero turnover apart from retirements. You will not be retraining the front desk every year.
We put money into the systems before the problems arrive: an AI scribe so you look at the patient, Cubiko so you see your own numbers and who is eligible for what, nurse-led assessments and care planning so the paperwork is shared. The day runs smoother because of it.
Both owners work in the practice, and Chris keeps at least two days a week free of consulting to run it. This is how you know that the leadership listens and responds.
Gumeracha is MM 2 and Lobethal MM 5 under the Modified Monash Model, which matters for Workforce Incentive Program payments and, for doctors subject to section 19AB, where you can work.
Both sites are RACGP and ACRRM training posts. Supervising is open to fellowed doctors who want it and never required. Training with us.
The rooms are fitted for the work, with a fully equipped procedure room and gynaecological examination couches for women’s health, and you will have a team that will help you develop your niche.
Standard consulting hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, with a Saturday morning roughly every four to six weeks. No after-hours roster, no on-call, no inpatient work, no nursing-home on-call. Home visits when clinically needed, in hours. You choose your sessions and your days, at either site or both.
Every fellowed doctor at Gum Medical practises as an independent practitioner under a service fee agreement. You hold your own provider numbers, bill in your own name, set your own sessions and carry your own indemnity. The practice provides the rooms, the nursing and administrative team, the software, the billing and recall systems, and the accreditation, and charges a service fee on billings for doing so. The terms are discussed in confidence once we have met.
We do not always have a vacancy open. We do always read the emails.
Gumeracha is a main-street town in the northern Adelaide Hills; Lobethal is ten kilometres east. Adelaide is about 50 minutes, Modbury 25 and Mount Barker 35, so most of our doctors commute rather than relocate. If you are already a Hills GP, you do not have to move house to change practice, and some of your patients are probably already ours.
Write to Chris Withnall directly. Tell us who you are, where you are in your career and what you are looking for. We will respond personally, and the first conversation is confidential.
