Dr Chris Withnall completed medical school in 2000 then travelled Australia gaining experience in rural and remote medicine, emergency management and surgery on his journey to becoming a General Practitioner. He was awarded Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine in 2013, having completed his final years of training in Gumeracha. Dr Withnall has broad experience of all facets of general practice, but has a particular interest in healthy ageing, sports and injury rehabilitation, and weight management. He has advanced skills in skin surgery in the clinic, including skin cancer excisions with flaps and grafts where needed, biopsies, and removal of cysts and lipomas. He can assess and treat many skin lesions in the clinic, with strong referral pathways for plastic surgical opinion for the most complex cases. Chris treats weight as a health question rather than a willpower one, working with patients to understand how their environment and circumstances interact with genetics and with the brain systems that drive appetite and habit. The consultations are collaborative and educational, and are meant to be free of judgement and pressure. He is open to the full range of options available in weight health today, and the goals are the ones the patient came in with. He practises what he preaches and would love to help you feel and live a “better kind of normal”.
