Mount Barker Hospital has a 24 hour emergency department on Wellington Road, Mount Barker, phone (08) 8393 1777. Modbury Hospital on Smart Road, Modbury also has a 24 hour emergency department, phone (08) 8161 2000.
Urgent but not an emergency
Gumeracha Nurse-Led Clinic
Nurses see patients aged 5 and over, with a doctor available by video when needed, for things like coughs and infections, gastro, urinary tract infections, cuts and sprains, simple burns, rashes, bites and stings, wound dressings and sick certificates. Free with a Medicare card. You can book online until 1pm each day, or phone after that; calling ahead helps either way. It is not an emergency department, and it does not see children under 5, mental health presentations, drug and alcohol presentations, or injuries from road accidents.

Medicare Urgent Care Clinics
Medicare Urgent Care Clinics in Adelaide are walk-in and bulk billed, for urgent problems that are not life-threatening. The closest are Norwood (201 to 203 The Parade, 7.30am to 9.30pm every day) and Para Hills West (33 McIntyre Road, 8am to 8pm weekdays, 10am to 6pm weekends and public holidays). Home visits
Hello Home Doctor on 134 100 is a separate after-hours home visiting service. They run weeknights from 6pm, from midday Saturday across the weekend, and all day on public holidays, and they bulk bill eligible patients. Eligibility criteria may apply, so check when you call.

Call 1800MEDICARE on 1800 633 422 or healthdirect on 1800 022 222. Both are free 24 hour nurse lines (charges can apply from some mobiles), and outside business hours the nurse can arrange a free phone or video consult with a GP if you need one.
For children aged 6 months to 18 years
The Women’s and Children’s Hospital Child and Adolescent Virtual Urgent Care Service is free and connects you with an emergency doctor or nurse by video, 9am to 9pm every day, for concerns that are not life-threatening. Start at wch.sa.gov.au/virtualurgentcare.
